Worth a Visit;

The Minack

The Minack Theatre is the most famous cliffside open-air theatre in Britain, possibly in the world; from above it looks as though some wandering Greeks, two thousand years ago, had carved a theatre into the granite cliffs of Porthcurno, Cornwall.In fact, it was just under eighty years ago that there was nothing there except a sloping gully of gorse and heather and below that, the sea of the Atlantic Ocean.

An amazing place to visit even if you dont want to watch a performance, visit their site for a list of performances.

FOR CHILDREN; they also run Story Telling and Family Shows from 10.30am on Monday, Wednesday and friday during school holidays included in your normal entry fee.

The Lost Gardens of Heligan

Heligan was an amazing Victorian garden but with the onset of the First World War in August 1914 the garden workers left to go to war and from there the garden and estate fell into disrepair until it became totally obscured and no-one knew what was there. Following a hurricane in 1990 little bits were exposed and it was realised that there was a treasure lying hidden under the tangle.

Gradually the team have painstakingly restored the gardens and they are amazing - but more than that, the story captivates you.Heligan offers over 200 acres for exploration. Discover the Victorian Productive Gardens, romantic Pleasure Grounds, lush sub-tropical Jungle, pioneering Wildlife Project & beyond...

FOR CHILDREN; lots of room to run, a woodland walk with giant Mud Maid sculpture and Giants Head - "Once the Mud Maid danced through the gardens and played in the lake. Sometimes she teased the gardener. Then, one day, he marched away and did not come back. Flowers withered. Weeds grew. The Mud Maid was too sad to dance and play.' A magical tale based on the true story of how the gardens of Heligan were lost and found. Brought to life by Karen Popham's glorious illustrations. "
